How competitors are discovered
During your project’s initial bootstrap, Topify.ai sends prompts to AI providers and analyzes the responses. Brands that are frequently mentioned alongside yours are flagged as potential competitors. These auto-detected competitors start as suggested — you decide which ones to actively track.Competitor states
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | You are tracking this competitor. Daily metrics are collected and shown in your dashboard. |
| Suggested | Auto-detected by Topify.ai but not yet confirmed. Awaiting your decision. |
| Inactive | You rejected or removed this competitor. No longer tracked. |
The competitors page
The competitors page shows a table with your actively tracked competitors, ranked by the selected metric:- Rank — position relative to other tracked brands
- Brand name — competitor name and website
- Visibility % — how often they appear in AI responses
- Sentiment — how positively they are mentioned
- Position — how early they appear in responses
Managing competitors
Accepting suggested competitors
When Topify.ai discovers new competitors, they appear in a Suggested section. For each suggestion, you can:- Track — start actively monitoring this competitor
- Reject — dismiss the suggestion
Adding competitors manually
Click Add competitor and enter the brand name. Topify.ai will start tracking mentions of that brand in AI responses to your prompts.Removing a competitor
You can remove an active competitor to stop tracking it. This moves it to the inactive state. Removing a competitor does not delete historical data.Competitor limits
The number of active competitors you can track depends on your plan:| Plan | Active competitors |
|---|---|
| Free | 6 |
| Basic | 20 |
| Pro | 40 |
